1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Display name: The name you choose to set in the app. This is stored locally on your device and is not linked to your identity.
• Chat messages: The messages you send within the app when interacting with AI characters. These messages are transmitted to OpenRouter, a third-party AI service provider, to generate responses.
• Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, including features used, session duration, and general activity patterns through our subscription management provider.
• Device information: Device identifiers may be collected by our analytics and subscription management tools for service improvement and fraud prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Kookla service
• Generate AI character responses based on your messages
• Manage subscriptions and in-app purchases
• Improve and develop new features
• Monitor for and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues

3. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

Kookla uses artificial intelligence to generate character responses. To provide this functionality, your chat messages are transmitted to OpenRouter, a third-party AI service provider, for processing. Specifically:

• Your text messages and recent conversation history (up to 15 messages) are sent to OpenRouter to generate character responses
• Recent conversation history (up to 15 messages) is included for context
• This data is transmitted solely for the purpose of generating AI-powered responses
• We do not sell your chat data to third parties
• AI-generated content is produced algorithmically and does not involve real people

We also use the following third-party services:

• Cloud database provider: For storing character data and app content
• Content delivery network: For delivering media content (videos, images)
• Subscription management provider: For managing subscriptions, analytics, and paywall functionality. This service may collect device identifiers and usage data.

4. Data Storage

Your chat messages and app preferences are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data is not synced to our servers. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed.

5. Payments

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store. Kookla does not directly collect, store, or process your payment information. Payment transactions are governed by Apple's privacy policy and terms.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data only in the following circumstances:

• With OpenRouter, a third-party AI service provider, to generate character responses, as described in Section 3
• With service providers who assist us in operating the app (analytics, content delivery, subscription management)
• When required by law, legal process, or government request
• To protect the rights, safety, and property of Kookla, our users, or the public

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. Chat messages sent to AI providers are transmitted over encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

Chat messages and preferences are stored locally on your device for as long as the app is installed. Messages sent to AI providers are used for generating responses and are not stored by us on any server. You can delete all local data by deleting the app.

9. Age Requirement

Kookla is intended for users who are 17 years of age or older. The app includes an age verification screen at first launch. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 17. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under 17, we will take steps to delete that information.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request deletion of your data
• Restrict or object to certain data processing
• Request data portability

Since chat data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all your data at any time by deleting the app. For any other requests, please contact us at the email below.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by other means. Continued use of Kookla after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
